Sazzad Ahmed Bhuiyan is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Marine Science at the Institute of Marine Sciences, University of Chittagong. His research interest focuses on the fields of oceanography, with a particular emphasis on the seafloor settings and biophysical processes that are shaping benthic comminutes.
Sazzad is involved in OiLAB research group under the benthic habitat mapping project, who are investigating the coral coverage, distribution and performance of corals and their associates in the Saint Martin’s Island MPA. This research also aims to develop a universal and reliable Machine Learning model for assessing coral coverage that seeks to improve the precision of coral and other benthic habitats monitoring. Sazzad is proficient in QGIS, ArcGIS, R and Python that make him skilled in geospatial analysis and data science. Additionally, his skills extend to multimedia tools such as Filmora, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator. He is also a member of OiLAB multimedia team and contributes in videography and video editing to document and present scientific data, generated by OiLAB. He is one the members of
OiLAB diving team, who participate in underwater surveys for marine investigations. With a passion for marine discovery, Sazzad is dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge and contributing to ocean innovations for sustainable management of marine ecosystems.
