Saidul Afnan is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Marine Sciences at the University of Chittagong, where he previously completed his Bachelor’s degree in the same major. His research interest spans in the field of physical oceanography. He has been investigating hydrodynamic factors (e.g. wave, current, turbidity, salinity and temperature) and their biophysical processes that are affecting the distribution and performance of corals including their associates in the St. Martin’s Island MPA using ROMS, Delft-3D and SWAN model approaches. Afnan is a member of OiLAB ocean model development group, who have developed various ocean model for better understanding hydrodynamic nature of the northern Bay of Bengal.
Saidul is proficient in various software tools, including Python, SWAN, Delft3D FM Suite, QGIS, and ArcGIS. He brings a strong analytical approach to his research. He previously worked in a project to develop ocean hydrodynamic models for water quality monitoring in the Moheshkhali channel under monsoonal climate.
