Md. Maruf Hossain Chowdhury is a senior bachelor’s student studying marine science at the University of Chittagong. His research interests lie in Physical Oceanography focusing on ocean hydrodynamics including geo-physical processes that help to understand currents, wave dynamics, and sea surface conditions of the Bay of Bengal.
Maruf is actively involved in ‘Coastal and Ocean Observation System (COOS) development program’ of OILAB that aims to develop a prototype for real time monitoring the physical properties of the ocean. Moreover, he is engaged in underwater investigations through OILAB benthic habitat monitoring program, where he is contributing to develop a vision transformer model ((VTM) for ocean health assessment applying his programming skills. Maruf has wonderful programing skills with Python, Matlab, and R. He is also proficient in using ArcGIS, and MySQL for data management and spatial analysis. With his enthusiasm about ocean engineering, he wants to contribute for the better understanding the geo-physical parts of the world ocean.
