Asad Chowdhury Rafi is an undergraduate student majoring in Marine Science at University of Chittagong. His primary research interest lies in coastal and marine aquaculture as he has always been passionate about sustainable food production systems that can help meet global food demands while preserving aquatic environments. Currently, Rafi has been investigating to improve the photo-bioreactor technology for indoor micro-algal production. He is trying to add advance engineering techniques in the system with automation of controlling environmental parameters for achieving maximum yield. Moreover, he has been working in the ‘mariculture innovation program’ that aims to develop multiple configurations of indoor and outdoor integrated multi-trophic aquaculture systems (IMTAs) including off shore marine cage production system. Previously, Rafi was involved in an aquaculture projects that developed flow-through technology for cultivating finfish in mountainous hilly regions harvesting natural fountain waters. Rafi wants to dedicate his career for the improvement of sustainable aquaculture production systems to help meet seafood demands without further depleting wild populations, contributing to the conservation and sustainable management of coastal and marine resources.
