Monisha Das is pursuing her MSc degree at the Institute of Marine Sciences, University of Chittagong. She obtained her BSc, major in Marine Science from the same institute. Her research interests span issues in the field of physical oceanography. Particularly, she is investigating to better understand the dynamic coastal processes and interactions that shape and modify coastlines through the actions of waves, tides, and currents.
Currently, Monisha is working with OiLAB delta research group, who are monitoring the shoreline changes along the coastline of nearshore and offshore Islands, a key area for its dynamic coastal processes and ecological as well as environmental sensitivity. This research group aims to assess and quantify the patterns of shoreline movement, contributing valuable insights into coastal erosion, accretion, and the broader hydrodynamic processes affecting the islands. With these efforts, she is contributing to the wider understanding of coastal zone management, erosion control, and sustainable development in Bangladesh’s coastal regions.
